Drain Cleaning in Kilgore and across East Texas
Slow and stopped drains cleared, with a camera check so it does not come right back.
What brings people to this page
A sink, tub, or whole-house drain is backing up, and plunging and store bought chemicals have not solved it.
How we handle it
We clear the blockage mechanically rather than dumping caustic chemicals into a line that may already be compromised. After the line is open we can run a camera to see why it clogged, because a drain that backs up every few months usually has a root intrusion, a belly, or a broken section behind it.
Signs you need drain cleaning
- Water standing in a sink, tub, or shower long after use
- Gurgling from one fixture when another one drains
- More than one drain backing up at the same time
- Sewage smell around floor drains
- Repeat clogs in the same line every few months
If any of that sounds like what you are dealing with, get in touch and we will take a look. You can also call (903) 570-3051 any hour of the day.
What actually happens when you call us out
1. We look before we quote
We start by figuring out whether this is a one time blockage or the symptom of something structural. Clearing a line without asking why it clogged is how you end up calling a plumber every few months.
2. You get a real number
You hear the price before we start, including whether a camera inspection is worth adding. We will tell you when it is unnecessary rather than tacking it onto every job.
3. We do the work
We clear the line mechanically or with jetting depending on what is in it, working from the right access point so we are not pushing the problem further down the system.
4. We check it and clean up
After the line is open we confirm proper flow and, where it matters, show you what is going on inside the pipe so you can decide about longer term repairs with real information.
What changes the price on drain cleaning
Every house is different, and anybody who quotes drain cleaning over the phone without seeing it is telling you something about how they do business. Here is what genuinely moves the number:
- How accessible the work area is. A crawlspace or a slab is a very different job than an open utility closet.
- The condition of the surrounding system. Sound existing pipe makes a repair simple, corroded pipe means we are working carefully around fragile material.
- Materials and any equipment the job requires.
- Whether a permit and inspection apply, which they do more often than people expect.
- How much of the problem turns out to be behind what we can see from the start.
We will not list a price on this page, because anybody who quotes drain cleaning sight unseen is either guessing or planning to change the number later. What we will promise is that you hear the real figure before we start, and if something unexpected turns up mid job we stop and talk to you rather than adding it to the invoice quietly.
Why it is worth doing properly
A line that clogs repeatedly is telling you something, and treating it as a recurring inconvenience rather than a symptom is how a cleanable problem becomes a sewer replacement. Clearing it properly and finding out why it happened is what keeps this from becoming an annual expense.
What you get from a small shop instead of a big one
Odyssey is deliberately small. That is not a limitation we are apologizing for, it is the entire point. When you call about drain cleaning, you are talking to the people who will actually be at your property, not a dispatcher reading from a script and not a rotating roster of subcontractors who have never seen your building before.
It also means we cannot afford a bad job. A large outfit can absorb a handful of unhappy customers a month and keep running on advertising spend. We cannot, and we do not want to. Nearly everything we do comes from somebody who used us before or from a neighbor who told them to call. That is a much harder standard to meet than a marketing budget, and it is the reason we would rather talk you out of unnecessary work than sell it to you. You can see photographs of real jobs we have finished rather than stock images of somebody else’s pipe.
Why people keep our number
Honest diagnosis
We tell you what is actually wrong, including when it is smaller than you feared and the invoice is smaller with it.
A real price first
You hear the number before we start. If we open a wall and find something neither of us expected, we stop and talk to you.
Work that holds
Licensed Master Plumber work, done to code, cleaned up after. If something we installed fails in warranty, we come back.
A veteran-owned shop out of Kilgore
Stephen Crutchfield started Odyssey Plumbing Co in 2022 because he had watched other plumbers in East Texas treat customers badly: work sold that was not needed, prices that changed between the front door and the invoice, jobs left half cleaned up. He built this company to be the opposite of that.
Stephen is a licensed Master Plumber and holds a Water Protection Specialist certification, and he is the one who answers the phone when you call. We are veteran-owned, we are local, and our name is on every job we finish. Read more about how we got started or look at photos of actual work.

Questions about drain cleaning
Are chemical drain cleaners bad for pipes?
The caustic ones can damage older pipe and rarely clear a real blockage. They also make it more dangerous for whoever opens the line afterward. We would rather you call than pour.
Why does the same drain keep clogging?
Usually because something structural is behind it: roots, a sag in the line, or a broken section catching debris. A camera inspection answers it in about fifteen minutes.
Do you do camera inspections on every drain job?
Not automatically. On a one-off kitchen clog it is unnecessary. On a recurring or main line issue we recommend it, because clearing it blind means you call us again in three months.
Can you clear a main sewer line?
Yes. Main line clearing and sewer camera locating are both things we do regularly, including with hydro jetting when the buildup calls for it.
How much does drain cleaning cost?
It depends on the line and the blockage. You get the number before we start, not after.
Prefer to talk it through?
Call and talk to Stephen directly. He is a Master Plumber, not a call center, so you get a straight answer from the person who will do the work.
