Shower Valve Installation in Kilgore and across East Texas
New shower and tub valves set at the right depth, level, and to code.
What brings people to this page
You are installing a new shower or replacing a valve, and it needs to be right before the wall closes.
How we handle it
The valve body has to sit at the correct depth for the finished wall surface and dead level, or the trim never sits right and you live with it for twenty years. We set it properly, connect hot and cold correctly, and pressure test before anything gets covered. Anti scald requirements are handled as a matter of course.
Signs you need shower valve installation
- Building or remodeling a shower or tub surround
- A valve that leaks behind the wall
- Replacing outdated two handle valves
- Water temperature that swings when another fixture runs
- Trim that will not seat correctly against the wall
If any of that sounds like what you are dealing with, get in touch and we will take a look. You can also call (903) 570-3051 any hour of the day.
What actually happens when you call us out
1. We look before we quote
We look at what you actually have before recommending anything. That means checking capacity, existing connections, venting where it applies, and whether the space and supply can support what you are asking for.
2. You get a real number
You get the full figure before we order anything: equipment, labor, permit, and any related work the install genuinely requires. Nothing gets discovered later that we could have seen on day one.
3. We do the work
Installation is done to code with the correct materials and connections, permitted and inspected where Texas requires it. We do not skip the permit to shave a day off the schedule.
4. We check it and clean up
We commission the work under real conditions rather than just confirming it turns on, then walk you through operating and maintaining it before we leave.
What changes the price on shower valve installation
Every house is different, and anybody who quotes shower valve installation over the phone without seeing it is telling you something about how they do business. Here is what genuinely moves the number:
- How accessible the work area is. A crawlspace or a slab is a very different job than an open utility closet.
- The condition of the surrounding system. Sound existing pipe makes a repair simple, corroded pipe means we are working carefully around fragile material.
- Materials and any equipment the job requires.
- Whether a permit and inspection apply, which they do more often than people expect.
- How much of the problem turns out to be behind what we can see from the start.
We will not list a price on this page, because anybody who quotes shower valve installation sight unseen is either guessing or planning to change the number later. What we will promise is that you hear the real figure before we start, and if something unexpected turns up mid job we stop and talk to you rather than adding it to the invoice quietly.
Why it is worth doing properly
An install is the one chance to get it right cheaply. Undersized equipment, a gas line that cannot feed the appliance, missing venting, or a skipped permit all get much more expensive to correct after the walls close and the inspection is behind you. Done properly the first time, shower valve installation is something you stop thinking about for a decade or more.
What you get from a small shop instead of a big one
Odyssey is deliberately small. That is not a limitation we are apologizing for, it is the entire point. When you call about shower valve installation, you are talking to the people who will actually be at your property, not a dispatcher reading from a script and not a rotating roster of subcontractors who have never seen your building before.
It also means we cannot afford a bad job. A large outfit can absorb a handful of unhappy customers a month and keep running on advertising spend. We cannot, and we do not want to. Nearly everything we do comes from somebody who used us before or from a neighbor who told them to call. That is a much harder standard to meet than a marketing budget, and it is the reason we would rather talk you out of unnecessary work than sell it to you. You can see photographs of real jobs we have finished rather than stock images of somebody else’s pipe.
Why people keep our number
Honest diagnosis
We tell you what is actually wrong, including when it is smaller than you feared and the invoice is smaller with it.
A real price first
You hear the number before we start. If we open a wall and find something neither of us expected, we stop and talk to you.
Work that holds
Licensed Master Plumber work, done to code, cleaned up after. If something we installed fails in warranty, we come back.
A veteran-owned shop out of Kilgore
Stephen Crutchfield started Odyssey Plumbing Co in 2022 because he had watched other plumbers in East Texas treat customers badly: work sold that was not needed, prices that changed between the front door and the invoice, jobs left half cleaned up. He built this company to be the opposite of that.
Stephen is a licensed Master Plumber and holds a Water Protection Specialist certification, and he is the one who answers the phone when you call. We are veteran-owned, we are local, and our name is on every job we finish. Read more about how we got started or look at photos of actual work.

Questions about shower valve installation
Why does my shower go cold when a toilet flushes?
An old non pressure balanced valve. Modern valves are required to compensate for that and it is a noticeable quality of life upgrade.
Can you replace a valve without tearing up tile?
Sometimes, through an access panel from the other side of the wall. If not, we will tell you before we start rather than after.
Do you install thermostatic valves?
Yes, along with pressure balanced and standard mixing valves depending on what you want.
How long does it take?
A straightforward valve replacement with access is usually a few hours. New construction rough-in is faster.
Does it need to be inspected?
On new construction and permitted remodels, yes, and we build to that standard regardless.
Prefer to talk it through?
Call and talk to Stephen directly. He is a Master Plumber, not a call center, so you get a straight answer from the person who will do the work.
